Green Zone DVD September 7, 2010 Stephen Hewins (Coventry, England) Once again, using Amazon was quick, easy and cost effective. Would NOT recommend the film though.

IVE REVIEWED THE GREEN ZONE AS OK AND IT IS....ITS WATCHABLE SO THAT YOU DONT TURN OFF MID VIEWING BUT ALL IN ALL ITS POORLY CONSTRUCTED AND TEDIOUS....ON A POSITIVE NOTE "MATT DAMON".... VISUALLY ITS IMPRESSIVE...THATS THE END OF THE POSITIVES I THINK...NEGATIVES THE STORYLINE IS DISJOINTED, COBBLED TOGETHER, AND REALLY STRETCHES THE IMAGINATION TO BREAKING POINT THAT SOMETHING SO RECENT CAN BE CHARACTERISED SO POORLY..THE IMPRESSION THAT THE COMMANDER OF A SEARCH TEAM FOR WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION CAN WAGE HIS OWN PRIVATE WAR TO TRY AND UNCOVER THE TRUTH ABOUT AN INVASION WITH SO LITTLE SUPPORTING INFORMATION FOR THE VIEWER...AGAINST ALL OTHER FIGURES WITHIN THE ARMED FORCES AT THAT TIME BEGGARS BELIEF...WITH SUCH A POLITICALLY SENSITIVE TOPIC WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN EXPLORED IN FAR MORE DETAIL AND A MORE CREDIBLE STORYLINE PRODUCED I FIND THE END RESULT WAS LIKE EATING OUT AT A FANCY OVERPRICED RESTAURANT....YOU FIND YOURSELF IMPRESSED WITH THE SCENERY BUT STARVING WHEN YOU LEAVE WITH AN EMPTY WALLET! OK AT BEST!
Nice try, but... September 1, 2010 Teemacs (Switzerland) I've read the excellent book "Imperial life in the Emerald City" from which this film derives its inspiration. The book is much more surreal than this film, in that blatantly Republican political considerations shaped the Iraqi occupation after the fall of Saddam. (One of the questions asked of prospective US Administrators was their opinion of Roe v. Wade, and a world-renowned expert in country rebuilding was rejected and a political appartchik seleted, because the former had some Democrat connections). Such things are the stuff of a documentary, not a feature film.
Nevertheless, this film gamely attempts to characterise the book, in that it sees it all through the eyes of a fictitious WMD searcher. The message is clear, but to me it comes across as too pat and simplistic, and the ending is silly. But it tried, and it deserves some credit for that.
