1 out of 5 stars Failed to update it's database after successful install   September 10, 2010
S. WRIGHT (UK)
I have and still use several versions of Kaspersky 2010 on 5 computers. I tried the new 2011 version and although it connected to the Kaspersky server to register the product and therefore had access to the internet it was not able to update it's virus database. It always displayed the message cannot connect to server... update malfunction. I had several emails from Kaspersky tech support that instructed me to first manually enter the upgrade server IP address. This had no effect. I then downloaded some test programs from Kaspersky that examined my PC "GetSystemInfo.exe", "HijackThis.exe" and sent all the logs of installed software etc to Kaspersky. I then downloaded a Kaspersky removal tool "kavremover.exe"to completey remove the product. I then downloaded the latest version "kis11.0.1.400en_gb.exe" 106MB on the same PC that couldn't update via the internet??? I then tried to re-install it. It registered fine same as before but still could not update. I then gave up uninstalled the product and returned it to amazon and got a full refund. There is definitely problems with the new version. I'm sticking to the 2010 version for now and I have had no problems with 2010.

1 out of 5 stars Major problems with this   September 9, 2010
Mr. L. N. Taylor (Essex, UK)
I've used Kaspersky Internet Security many times in the past, and had very few problems. The problems I have had were minor, and easily rectified. Unfortunately this new 2011 suite was a problem right from the start. It took me several attempts to get it to load on my PC running XP, and then I started receiving warnings of corrupt files. I tried to deinstall and reinstall, but was unable to do this. I rebooted my machine, and instead of loading Windows, I just got a blue screen. Kaspersky support were very helpful, and we finally managed to get the PC to reboot. Unfortunately, I still continued to receive corrupt file advisories. After contacting Kaspersky support for a third time, I was advised to remove the software and try a reinstall. They guided me through the deinstall process, which took ages!! When this was finally done, I told them that I did not want to risk reinstalling, having since read about the bad experiences of many other users of this product on the internet. I am definitely not going to risk installing it on my laptop either. I am not sure why this particular version seems to be causing so many problems, but it is very disappointing. It may be a compatibility problem with XP, but I think Kaspersky should have been able to come up with a better solution by now than deinstallation. I refuse to accept it is my computer causing the problem (that is what Kaspersky hinted at), and I would not recommend this software at all until the problems are sorted out.

2 out of 5 stars What is the hurry & why the problem   September 9, 2010

2 comments. The requirement to install all 3 times within a month is an unnecessary difficulty & mean.
After installation I had an error message that a file was corrupt. I contacted Kaspersky & they will not reply although I have contacted them again. I suppose that is the price of fame!

2 out of 5 stars Risky   September 8, 2010

After reading a negative review about this product, I'm scared to put it on my newly bought laptop as I will not take risks with my computer. I have just had one computer die on me & I'm not prepared to risk using this.
Quoted review by another user:
"I though it only fair to mention that a lot of people are having problems with kaspersky. After installing 2011 it will almost certainly stop you USB ports from working. You need to remove kaspersky and do a system restore to get them working again. The 2010 version also suffers from problems of continual 'blacklist is corrupted' error messages and Word autosave will not work."

3 out of 5 stars Warning - May work for you, but could give you BIG trouble   September 6, 2010
Nat
The first Kaspersky product I've ever been disappointed with in many years of use. It loaded ok on my XP machine. It seems a little more bloaty than KIS 2010 and full scans take around four hours. It seemed to load ok onto my Vista laptop, but on the next cold boot it blue screened and had to restore it get it to boot, after a number further attempts as sugguested on the Kaspersky forums, it started to blue screen during the install process. Then started 3 weeks of running many removal programs and attempting 2011 installations under the guidance of Kaspersky Tech Support. The result of this was the sugguestion that I should carry on using KIS 2010. I managed to get kaspersky Pure trial version working without their help, but I couldn't get a complimentary licence out of them - worth a try. I won't even attempt to load it onto my Windows 7 machine. I'll wait for Kaspersky Pure to come down in price.

In short read the Kaspersky user forums before you buy, I wish I had.
